Reboot
The design for this ongoing series stems from 40,000 year old scratchings on a piece of carved stone found in the Blombos cave in South Africa. It may be one of the earliest known pieces of art or it may be a form of tallying.

Using this as a starting point, I wanted to explore the feasibility of engaging afresh with such ancient mark-making. This is a selection of works relating to that "starting from scratch” undertaken knowing full well that such a thing is utterly impossible.
